In 2007 my family and I moved from Birmingham to different areas in Kirklees, while moving to a different school (Helme School).
I became a Kirklees Youth Councillor in 2013 and studied at Holmfirth High School. Towards the end of my school years, I did work experience at Moor End Academy as a Librarian Assistant. After this, I went to Huddersfield New College and became part of the Student Union as well as a member of the Governing Board.
Very proudly, I become the first one in my family to go to university, studying at the University of York, and becoming a Trustee of the Students’ Union.
Currently, I am a member of a variety of environmental and community groups and organisations, such as the Woodland Trust and for Almondbury Carnegie Friends Association, and a School Governor for Linthwaite Clough and Scapegoat Hill.
I am very passionate about being a community volunteer, the environment, my heritage - Working Class, Yorkshire connection with the famous Victorian millers in Heckmondwike and Batley and my ¼ Black Caribbean connection to St Kitts & Nevis.
I'm determined to bring change to our area and for a better future for current and future generations.
