David lives and works in Salendine Nook and loves the Lindley ward:
It’s a beautiful part of Kirklees, with great local businesses and a vibrant community spirit. We need strong representatives in the ward to stand up for people in Lindley, to protect our area and not roll over to accept the Labour administration’s bad planning and spending decisions
David gained a PhD in chemistry from the University of Huddersfield and is Head of Business Development for the Colne Valley based fitness equipment manufacturer, Shapemaster, where he is leading a £multi-million global growth strategy.
Throughout his career, whether in business, manufacturing, the arts, education or in science, David has a reputation for “getting things done” – no matter how much resistance to change he meets. His ‘social capital’ is a useful asset with his ability to forge new relationships and his strong network in business, politics and in the community.
In the community, David was recently re-elected to serve as a volunteer on the Members’ Council of the NHS community healthcare organisation, Locala, where he is currently championing the importance of preventative physical activity, particularly for older people, and also serves on Locala’s Carbon Response Group.
